Humanity should come in unity
to celebrate our rich diversity.
Not fight about who is right or wrong
but create a world where we all belong.
Let’s have a massive picnic under ancient trees
And then go bathing in clear, cool, emerald seas
We will dry ourselves around pools of fire
Then watch the moon climb higher and higher.
We can talk to each other for hours and hours
As we wonder at the beauty of meteor showers
We will learn that everyone shares more than just a name
And go to bed thinking,’ We are so glad we came!’
Then, when the sun brings us a fresh new dawn
A kinder, more humane community can be born
Where we can throw away our prejudice and hate
And look forward to a brighter, more benevolent fate.

Hi Margaret, so good to hear from you. I hope all is well? This is the first of a collection of poems I have been working on. The collection is called Lock Down Lyrics. I will try and post one a week – I don’t want to post them all at once! Xx

Hi Ann, so sorry I don’t know what happened with my comment, it seemed to vanish! Anyway I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed reading that – fabulous, hopeful poem.

Thank you, Rebecca, I really appreciate you taking the time to read and comment. I have entered this poem into the Norwich Theatre Royal’s poetry competition but I haven’t heard anything so I guess it didn’t win. I hope you’re ok…have you changed your name? Xxx

That’s brilliant you’ve entered, even if you don’t make it through. No – my married name is Narracott and writing name is Stonehill! x

Ah, that makes sense! Xx
